Treasures from Grandma

My grandma and I planned to have breakfast together the other day, but it ended up turning into so much more. We ended up spending the day at her cabin in Shaver. I also ended up coming home with some treasures that were in her garage. I love old things, especially when they use to belong to my grandma and great grandma.

My Garden

It is official... I have a garden in my backyard.

I owe all of my thanks to Andrew, Bryan, and James for all of their hard work. Especially Andrew on the drip system that he installed.

Andrew dug a hole under that cement wall for the drip line. James and Andrew christened it with a hand shake in the tunnel.

These 2 guys are the creator of life..... didn't they do a great job on the garden boxes?!?!

Hopefully, with God's grace, this plant will soon bear peppers. I can't wait!

FCA Camp

I spent the last week at F.C.A. (fellowship of christian athletes) Camp in Monterey, Ca. It was a crazy busy week but totally amazing all at the same time. It made me realize how much I miss hanging out with other athletes. I miss being around sports and I need to now figure out what that means in my life, and how I will bring that back to being a part of my life.

These were the Huddle Leaders that we got to hangout with all week. They were definitely amazing. "Can I have your number, can I, can I have it..."

Anna Horn and I were the huddle directors together which ended up meaning that we were in charge of alot. We made a new friend at camp, Anna Martin, she was the speaker and she was awesome!!!

I couldn't leave this out.... Anna and I went to Santa Cruz the day before camp to hangout with Grandma Wilson and I rode the "Giant Dipper" at the Boardwalk for the first time. Let me just tell you, it was one of the best wooden roller costars ever!

Now location... Reagan Elementary in Sanger, Ca

May 26, 2008

Yesterday was my birthday and what a great day it was. I was able to see all the people I love and enjoy their company. My day started with a video that Andrew made for me of our 1st year of marriage. That was followed by breakfast and coffee (from our new french press) with Andrew and Bryan.... 2 of my favorite boys.
My Fast family has a great tradition that we like to call "Monday Lunch." Every Monday, all year long, my grandma makes lunch. Whoever is not working or who can sneak away for an hour gets to go to Grandmas and enjoy fellowship with family. My birthday just happened to fall on Memorial Day this year so everyone had the day off. Monday Lunch turned into a Birthday party for my brother (May 31) and I. Does it get any better than Grandma's house, family, Monday Lunch, and as my cousins reminded me, my favorite gypsy dress up outfit.

The day doesn't stop there. What would a birthday be without my favorite girls. Susan, Layne, Erin, and Katie came over to my house as we participated in an interactive activity. We made homemade strawberry jam. We had our measuring difficulties but in the end we pulled through. 32 Beautiful jars of homemade strawberry jam. I have amazing friends, and an amazing sister.

The day ended with a graduation get together with the Feil family. Carley and Logan are big graduates this year which was cause to celebrate. I am pretty sure the highlight of the party was when Carley and I teamed up to dominate in a great game of Monopoly. It is all about owning all of the Orange property.
Well to sum it up, it was a pretty unforgettable day. We serve a Big God and he has truly blessed me by putting some unbelievable people in my life. I am truly grateful!

Melissa is going to have a baby...

Melissa is due to have a baby boy on March 18th. Layne and I thought it would be a clever idea to make a baby blanket for her. Knowing the colors of her nursery, we set out to the fabric store. We both had never made a blanket before so everything was a bit experimental. At the end we were pretty impressed with the outcome. Here it is... what do you think?

A little project on a night when I had nothing else to do.

Danson came to school

In my class we read a story about a lady who had a guide dog so that Friday Grandpa Arly came for show and tell. Oh he was a hit... as always. The kids loved seeing a guide dog in real life. Arly gave a demonstration and answered some questions. He also let the dog run around the classroom just so the kids could see that he was just an ordinary dog. It was a huge success thanks to Grandpa Arly, Grandma Jan, and of course, Danson.

Glubber

After discovering the professional development room at my school, I found an AIMS binder with science activities in it for 5th grade. Today was my first experiment... As a class we created "Glubber." Ingredients:
Glue, water, and borax

It turns into a silly puddy type substance that my kids loved. I will have to wait and see how tomorrow goes when we put our glubber through the stretch, bounce, print, and shape test.

Still Learning...

I just figured out how to do a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine. After many trial and errors on a scrap piece of fabric I managed to complete this pillow with a "B" for my friend Layne. The brown fabric on the "B" and on the back is the fabric from my brides maid dress at her wedding. I hope this will bring back great memories when she looks at it.

FCA Retreat

Last weekend I went to the FCA Coaches Retreat. (No, I am not a coach but Coach Di can get me to do anything. I am pretty sure if she asked me to jump off a cliff I would do it.) That is one lady that I would love to be like... her and my sister. I had a blast. It was the first time I had ever been to Hume. It was a great reunion of some old basketball teammates. We played some broomball, tubed, and of course learned alot. I miss those girls.

Christmas Flowers

For Christmas my grandma gave the grand daughters a flower pot. I planted them about 12 days ago and this is what it looks like now. Pretty Amazing!!

My Recent Projects

It has been awhile since I have been here. In the mean time I have completed a few sewing projects. I'm definitely not very good but at least it is fun to learn.

My first bag!! Katie taught me how to read a pattern.

I also sewed a pillow for Bryan

Who doesn't love a good hymn?!?!

Andrew put this cd in my stocking for Christmas morning. If you are someone who loves a good church hymn, then this is a must listen. Alan Jackson created this cd for his mom and I think also for me.

My new kitchen

This is my favorite room in the house. My favorite thing is to eat breakfast, read the paper, and drink my coffee at the kitchen table.

With the help of my sister I sewed some curtains to help create a little personality.

Our New House

Andrew and I have been given the opportunity to move into my great-grandma's old house. I am in absolute bliss. There are so many stories in this house and I love hearing them.
